With over 20 years in the salon industry, John Blue has made a name for himself in Chicago as the go-to guy for all things color. His meticulous color applications and charismatic personality make him one of the most sought-after color specialists. John’s keen eye for detail coupled with his vast knowledge of color placement techniques, allow him to master highlights, dimensional bases, double process blondes and color corrections like it ain’t no thang.
John’s award-winning work has been featured in the pages of Elle, Urb, Modern Salon as well as on MTV, TLC, and WGN. Chicago magazine honored him with a Best Colorist title for his natural balayage technique; spawning a huge, loyal following. Blue has been dubbed the “brunette whisperer” because of his realistic and natural looking sun-drenched highlights. His experience as a global hair color educator for Aveda led him to work and educate in top nationally-awarded salons in Minneapolis, Atlanta, and Chicago.

A constant fan of reinvention, John’s a self-proclaimed “artistic superfreak” because his love of innovation and creatively making all things beautiful. From recording music to launching his own POPLUX candle line, John’s artistic talents extend far beyond hair. In his spare time, you can find John chillin’ out in Andersonville with his partner Sergio and their two “instafamous” dogs, Mowgli and Bruno.
